Browsers, PDF readers, archive tools… updating each program one by one takes time, and anything you miss is a security hole.

Explanation

winget is the package manager built into Windows 10 and 11.

  1. winget upgrade lists the programs that have an update available.

  2. winget upgrade --all installs them all at once.

Run PowerShell as administrator to avoid repeated confirmation prompts. To install a program: winget install Mozilla.Firefox; to find one: winget search vlc. Consider scheduling the command weekly on company computers.
